Chilli Cool - Sichuan Cuisine

Eating with other food lovers has become very important in the agenda! A lot of us ventured to Chilli Cool last week! Sichuan cuisine is something I do not have any ideas about but Mr Noodles, Mr Grubworm and Mr CookingTheBooks shout about it - a lot! If someone had let us (TheCattyLife, One MillionGoldStars, VioletsCurd) in there – alone – without these vets, then how the hell would you know what to order.
Mr Noodles ordered so many things – what is excellent about going in a large group like we did – of 11 – we can order loads and everyone gets to try everything. What a great way to be introduced to a cuisine! It was great how he kept saying - "ah! this is my favourite... this is my favourite... ahh, this is so good, I ordered 2!'
The food here is just amazing, we got a range of animals: beef, beef tendon and tripe, to pigs intestines, pork belly, aubergine, chicken, prawns and so on. All tasting absolutely divine (apart from pigs intestine – eeek). All were swimming amongst hundreds of chillis and chilli oil but all tasting quite different and definitely marvelous! Very spicy but lots of Tsing Tao to wash it all down with.
Great food always proves to work wonders over a dinner table. It is such a bonding thing. This is a place I would love to come back to and try hot pots. The food is really really good here. If I knew more about it, I could explain but I don’t – so here – just pictures and a big thumbs up!
What a great evening! Thanks Mr Grubworm for organising!
All came to about £25 per head with booze! bargain!!!

It was a great evening wasn't it? Most thanks to Mr Noodles for the sterling ordering job - got it spot on.

You're absolutely right about the joy of finding a new cuisine in large groups. The other time i ate here there were eight so i got to try a good range then too, although there was only a little cross over.

The highlight for me wasn't the aubergines (shock horror!) it was that cold sliced porkbelly and cucumber. Stunning. And the company. The company was fab. That's what really made the meal.

@catty
heh - they do look the same don't they! But they taste soo good! I'm going to get Chilli Cool cravings like I do for tayabbs.
Really good night - being with good friends although we hardly know each other - just bonded with food!

@The Grubworm
The pork belly and tendons were amazing - my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Mr Noodles made such good choices. I love it when "the daddy" orders!
Fantastic night with such a fun bunch!

I've even put my finger upon what CookingTheBooks reminds me of: Moss from The IT Crowd.. hehe..

A great evening but I can't take all the credit for ordering, as Joshua did pick the cold starters, which were excellent!

I missed this post on Monday.

It was indeed a fun meal and made by the company as much as the food. So good to have so many people both for ordering to share and conversation.

(thanks for the cold starters credit too Sung)
